About Salty's Pompano Rigs

In 2018, I became increasingly dissatisfied with the pompano rigs I was finding in local tackle shops. They often lacked consistency, durability, or the attention to detail that serious surf fishermen expect. Instead of settling, I started building my own rigs, experimenting with different materials, layouts, and components until I found combinations that truly performed in the surf.

Word spread quickly. Friends who fished with me began asking for their own rigs, then their friends wanted them too. Before long, what started as a personal solution turned into a small but growing operation. In 2019, Salty’s Pompano Rigs was officially launched with a simple mission: build high-quality, ready-to-fish surf rigs that outperform anything hanging on a peg in a store.

Since then, the brand has continued to grow and evolve. Every design has been refined through real-world fishing—tested in changing tides, rough surf, strong currents, and long casting conditions. Each improvement comes from time on the water, listening to customers, and constantly pushing to make each rig stronger, cleaner, and more effective. The goal has always stayed the same: to offer the best surf fishing set rig you can buy—one you can trust the moment it hits the water.

Outside of fishing, I am a Special Education teacher at Gulf Shores City School, where I work closely with behavior-focused students. Teaching has reinforced the values of patience, consistency, and adaptability—qualities that carry directly into how I build and improve my rigs. Every student, like every fishing condition, is different, and success comes from understanding what works and adjusting when needed.

Before becoming an educator, I served as a police officer in Tennessee. During my career, I worked bike patrol, served as a sniper on the SWAT team, handled investigations, worked Vice and Narcotics, and trained new officers as a Field Training Officer (FTO). Those years built discipline, precision, accountability, and a deep respect for doing things the right way—no shortcuts, no excuses.

Today, Salty’s Pompano Rigs is the result of all those experiences coming together. From law enforcement to education to fishing, every background has shaped how this brand operates. Each rig is built with purpose, tested in real conditions, and tied with the same commitment I’ve carried throughout my life—to do the job right, every single time.
